I knew eventually I would return to our blog. I just didn’t think it would take nearly 12 months! It’s astonishing how people can give up so easily on something they love. One day I was writing with such fervor and then I just stopped. Not sure exactly why…other than lack of motivation and the thought that I might be writing about things people couldn’t relate to. Its difficult to imagine telling a story and thinking that no one is listening. But the reality is that writing, first and foremost, should be something you do for you. I found that I lost a piece of myself by not journaling our experiences. Part of me felt our purpose for writing may have lost its novelty or allure. As a breadwinning wife with a stay-at-home husband (now surpassing 6 years), I started to think, “Why am I doing this? Does anyone even care?” Yes, we are unique in some ways but everyone is faced with some form of nuance in their lives. “Why are we so special?” I wondered. I saw a couple documentaries come out in the last year about stay-at-home dads and their challenges. These stories were familiar and interesting. It was nice to see other families coping with the social struggles but also kids enjoying close knit relationships with their dads. Point being, perhaps our family dynamic is still somewhat relevant in a world that is less about traditionalism and conformance and more about making our lives purposeful. For those who decided to check in on us, THANK YOU for reading 🙂
