“Home” will always be Arizona but today I felt inclined to write this because as I drove Maya to Sunday school this morning, I looked around and thought, wow…this place is really something special. We moved to Alabama nearly 3 years go. I’ll be honest, my husband wasn’t gung ho at the initial thought. I’m sure other places would have appealed to him more. Maya was pretty young, so she was impartial. Our family was supportive and encouraging of our new endeavor, but lets get real…prepping the spare bedroom for guests would be a little premature. Surprisingly, we’ve had several visits! But my point is, living here as taught me so much about people and genuine southern charm. Everywhere we go, we’re greeted with warmth and hospitality. From the waitresses to the grocers to the neighbors to the mailman to the teachers and I could go on and on. I’ve moved a lot in my life and have met many people. But this helps sum it up. Never had I been graced with a freshly baked peach pie made by a darling mother and daughter who stood smiling warmly at us on our doorstep just ONE day after moving here. Seriously?? You only see that in movies! It was such a real and precious moment. I’ll never forget it. To this day, we continue to be blessed with beautiful gestures by the most gracious, kind and charismatic people you’ll ever know. ROLL TIDE 🙂
