I’ve known Mitra since sophmore year in high school. We didn’t attend the same school but we met through a mutual friend…and have been inseparable ever since. Albeit virtually. She lives in LA. A far cry from the South. But we’ve always made time for regular chats and visits at every opportunity. We’ve been through thick and thin and consoled each other through life’s ups and downs. Friends like Mitra are few and far between. Girlfriends come and go, especially as we get older and our lives become so insanely busy. I’m fortunate enough to have been blessed with her love and support for 30+ years. She has been there throughout all my travels, my life in New York, my time in Europe, my melt down in my late 20s feeling lost and helpless, my bounce back in my 30s, my maid of honor at our nuptials and my support system throughout my pregnancy with Maya…and so many other profound moments. I made every effort to be there for her in just the same way. We are connected on so many levels. She is Alabama-bound in just a few short weeks. We will celebrate her birthday here in Huntsville along with Maya’s, only a few days apart. Being the Mitra that I love and adore, she will actively join in Maya’s ‘Hollywood Glamour’ party along with 8 other girls and dress up in her pink feather boa, big superstar sunglasses and walk the fancy red carpet. Between you and I, I have a secret plan in the works when she arrives. To show her the time of her life and convince her to relocate and take a stab at Southern Living. Mitra certainly has the personality to fit right in as she is the epitome of ‘charm and hospitality.’ WISH ME LUCK ON MY ENDEAVOR! I think the odds are in my favor…just need to seal the deal with a charismatic, handsome, single engineer who can sweep her off her feet! This is “Rocket City” after all. Southern Gents…prepare to be bedazzled.
